FC Barcelona News: 4 December 2015: Xavi Backs Messi For Ballon d'Or, Mascherano Wins Fair Play Award

Luis Suárez discusses team's excellent form | FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona striker Luis Suárez sat down for a chat with sports giant Adidas on Thursday and the Uruguayan spoke about various things regarding the team. "The match against Villanovense was a game to show that, on the field it is eleven against eleven and no team is weaker than another, but rather it must be proven with good football and goals," Suárez said about the team’s progression to the last 16 of the cup.
No longer a newcomer in need of moral support, but a true leader in one of the most decorated dressing rooms in football, El Pistolero's endless hunger for success continues to motivate him to dig even deeper. Constantly identifying areas for further improvement, it is virtually impossible to predict how much better the Salto-born striker can become in the future.
Enrique’s charges are as difficult to beat as Guardiola’s, which is quite a compliment for the former given that the latter’s team were considered one of the best to have ever played football. "The reality is that Barça of the six titles, Barça 2009, was infinitely superior to Real Madrid," former los Blancos manager Juande Ramos admitted. "We had to make a tremendous effort to compete with them, but the truth is that their level was much higher than Real Madrid's." Six years on and with a new manager at the helm, it is still not clear what the best way to defeat Barcelona is. But here's how to hit them where it hurts...
FC Barcelona centre-back Gerard Piqué spoke at an event on Thursday about the team’s current run of results, the upcoming match against Valencia and Luis Suárez. "We hope to maintain this level that we have been showing over the last month, playing very well, until the end of the season. Based on our results and the way we have been playing, we are in one of our best spells of the season," the defender said.
On Thursday, the FC Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano received the 2015 Fair Play Award organised by the Barça Players Group. Mascherano beat out Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Pique and Rakitic who had all been named finalists by popular vote. A jury determined the winner. The event was held in the Sala París at Camp Nou, and was attended the Club President Josep Maria Bartomeu and the president of the Barça Players Group, Ramon Alfonseda. "We emphasised values such as leadership, both on and off the field, respect for the Club, for opponents and for teammates, and his commitment to the first team shirt, to FC Barcelona supporters and to society," said Alfonseda.

Isco has since apologised for his actions, and Alves told radio show "El Partido de los 12" that he would be happy to let bygones be bygones in Isco's case.
