The Blaugranes are looking for a fifth trophy against a tough opponent
How about start your Christmas week with a good world championship game? You got it! Barcelona takes the pitch in Japan this Sunday in search for their FIFTH trophy just this calendar year, facing the tough, fighting Argentinian giants River Plate, winners of the South American Cup.
We saw two completely different stories for these teams in the Club World Cup semi-finals: Barça basically practiced against Guangzhou Evergrande, winning 3-0 with giant ease and a Luis Suárez hat-trick. River had another totally opposite game: The Millionaires suffered against Sanfrecce Hiroshima, needing a late game-winner from young striker Lucas Alario to qualify for the Final in a really difficult matchup.
Now, the semi-final should not serve as a model of what's to come on Sunday. River Plate is a very much better, a lot very much actually, than Guangzhou, and they will play the game of their lives against the world's best team. But Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. are most likely to be back for Barcelona, which makes the world's best team an ever better world's best team.
This match is just to good not to watch. Don't your dare miss it.
