Barcelona vs Deportivo La Coruña, 2015/16 La Liga: Final Score 2-2 as Barça throw away another victory

Barcelona has now drawn three consecutive matches, this time failing to hold on to a 2-0 victory and conceding the tie to the bold and fighting Deportivo La Coruña, who just like last season, came to the home of the Blaugranes and pulled off an improbable upset. Lionel Messi and Rakitic scored for the hosts, but the warriors of Coruña came back and left Camp Nou with a 2-2 draw thanks to goals from Lucas and Bergantiños.

FIRST HALF

The game had all the ingredients you would hope for a Barça match at Camp Nou: the hosts with most of the possession, and the visitors crowding the box to avoid dangerous passes close to the goal posts. Thanks to a valiant effort from Deportivo defenders and a slightly uninspired half by the Blaugrana, the minutes went by with no real chances for either side.

Without Neymar and his individual skills, Barça passed the ball unable to switch gears and increase quickness on the attacking plays. The Blaugranes lacked precision in the final third, and the first half seemed destined to end in a draw. It didn't, thanks to the magical left foot of Lionel Messi. The Argentine striker took a free-kick with perfection, curling the ball to the top corner to give Barça a (semi-) deserving lead at halftime.

SECOND HALF

The final period wasn't too different from the earlier action: Barça was a little slow, yet in total control and solid defensively, ready to stop Depor whenever the Blancoazuis tried anything. The Blaugrana showed patience, and found the second goal thanks again to Messi, who assisted Rakitic as the Croatian buried home one of his trademark rockets from outside the box.

Everything looked fine, and then... things got tricky. In a lapse of concentration by the defense, Lucas Pérez saw himself alone in the box and dislocated Claudio Bravo to score Deportivo's first goal of the match. And then, things fell apart. Errant passes ignited a counter-attack for the visitors, who tied the game with defensive midfielder Bergantiños.

In the end, a stunning result, and a bad way to travel to Japan. Now Barça can lose the La Liga lead to Atlético Madrid on Sunday. What a crazy weekend.
