Interesting, fun draw!
The Spanish Football Federation made the Round of 16 draw for this season's Copa Del Rey on Friday morning. The biggest absence in this year's knockout stage draw was obviously Real Madrid, hilariously eliminated from the tournament after illegally lining up Denis Cheryshev against Cádiz a few weeks ago, which resulted in Los Blancos being out of the Spanish Cup.
So the last sixteen standing were drawn, and the selection brought us some very fun matchups. Barcelona will face Espanyol in what promises to be an awesome Catalonia Derby. Because of the schedule, these teams will see each other three times in a span of eleven days, which is bound to heat the rivarly a little more. It's a match that involves pride more than results, and the Blue and Whites always make things difficult for the Blaugranes.
Barça and Espanyol will face off in the beginning of January, and the best news is that Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal, unable to play for the last six months due to the infamous FIFA transfer ban, will be available for registration and are expected to make their Blaugrana debut against the local rivals.
This should be fun. And exciting. Nice job, draw machine!
