The Blaugranes look to qualify for the shot at a fifth title this season
The Club World Cup is here! While this might not be the most exciting club competition on the planet, it does matter for a football team enjoying a historic 2015 like Barcelona. The Blaugranes could not repeat the incredible sextuple conquered in the Pep Guardiola Era, but not a lot of teams in history can say they've won five trophies in a single calendar year.
Until 2004, playing the Club World Cup was exciting for European clubs because it was just one match against the strongest possible opponent from the rest of the football world, the South American champions. Now, it's a supposedly inclusive tournament that has become just too hard to watch. Very few people knew this thing has been going on for a week, but it has and it's a testament to how big FIFA has screwed this formerly really fun championship.
But now it's time for Barcelona to play, and that's certain to bring people's attention. The Blaugrana will play the Chinese and Asian Champions League title holders, Guangzhou Evergrande, in the semifinal. You might know a few members of Guangzhou, like Chelsea idol Luis Felipe Scolari, Real Madrid legend Robinho and Tottenham superstar Paulinho. That's must-watch!
