Neymar is the worst baseball player in world

The Barcelona star meets the Mets!

Neymar is an extremely talented footballer. Many believe he'll supplant Lionel Messi as the best in the world very soon and he very well might.

However, we learned on Tuesday night that the Brazil and Barcelona superstar will not pull a Michael Jordan and leave his job to become a baseball player. Not if his visit to the New York Mets is any indication. He showed up at Citi Field to meet the Mets (step right up and greet the Mets! Sorry.) and to try his hand at some batting practice. And...well...let's just say it did not go very well.

After just a few pathetic swings he gave up and reverted back to his natural skills of juggling. Instead of a football he grabbed a baseball and did his thing:

Neymar may be one of the best footballers in the world, but not all athletes are multi-faceted in the sporting arena. Baseball definitely isn't in his future any time soon.

Report: Paul Pogba Ready To Move To Barcelona?

It's basically that Cesc Fabregas saga all over again, right?

Forget Euro 2016 or the Copa America, the biggest story of this summer might well turn out to be the Paul Pogba transfer saga. With suitors in London, Manchester, Paris, Madrid and Catalunya, the world is Pogba's oyster, at least if he ever decided he wanted to leave Turin. After another impressive season with Serie A champions, Juventus, there were always going to be rumours linking the dynamic French midfielder with a move away from Serie A and certainly his latest actions have done little to slow the rumour mill.

Various sources are reporting today that Pogba has purchased a villa in Barcelona, renewing speculation that he will be joining the Blaugrana this coming off-season. With the European Championships set to play out over the next month and half, this one isn't going to be going away any time soon, and as Barcelona ponder how to spend the influx of sponsorship money they have coming from Nike, as well as other potential sources, the Catalans are certainly one of the few clubs who could afford to procure his services.

In typical tabloid fashion, there have been many reports that state this serves as proof positive of Pogba's intentions; although wisely the estate agency group have released a statement to point out that Pogba is simply purchasing the property for investment purposes.

Perhaps a more honest would have been "rich Frenchman purchases villa in Barcelona to diversify investment portfolio", but be honest, this silly scenario seems more fun, right?

OFFICIAL: Barcelona unveil 2016-17 home kit

The leaks were true. Barcelona are turning back time by going retro with their home kits for the 2016-17 season. In homage to the team that won the club's first European Cup during the 1991-92 season at Wembley Stadium, this upcoming season's home kit will feature the same general design.

Lionel Messi injured, doubtful for Argentina Copa America debut

Argentina is certainly one of the favorites to win the Copa América. But the best player on the team is in pain.

Barcelona superstar and Albiceleste captain Lionel Messi suffered a back injury during his national team's friendly against Honduras on Friday. The player took a knock in the back in the second half, and was immediately taken out to the locker room, and later to a hospital for further testing. The results came back without any serious problems, but there is an "important bone bruise" that's causing a lot of pain.

The latest updates from Argentine media say that Messi has left the national team camp and went to his home town of Rosario, along with his personal doctor and the Argentina physician. Messi will remain in Rosario until Wednesday treating the problem, before having to travel back to Catalonia where he's expected to testify about his tax evasion allegations.

After the quick trip to Barcelona, Messi will travel to the United States to rejoin his teammates and finish the preparations for the Copa América debut against Chile in eight days. Even if he is still in pain, Messi will play the tournament because there's no serious injury.

Despite Bacelona rumors, Arsenal defender Bellerín 'only interested in Euro 2016'

Arsenal full-back Héctor Bellerín is on Barcelona's shortlist of potential replacements for Dani Alves, but he's not really thinking about the rumors.

The young defender is currently training with the Spanish national team in preparation for Euro 2016 this summer, and he gave a radio interview in which he was asked about the Barça rumors. His answer is simple: talk to my agent, please.

"Well, the truth is that right now this does not interest me, because I am focused on the national team. For those things I have an agent who deals with off-the-field issues. When you have a good season, news like this always emerges.

"I am very misinformed about it, these are questions for my agent, but I am happy to attract the interest of such big clubs, that's always nice. I have said it before: I am very happy where I am and I do not think about anything else than the national team."

"These things, until they come, you never know what to do. My agent does this job. I do not know very well what's happening at Barcelona. If Alves leaves they will need a new right-back, but there are a lot of good players around Europe."

Source: Cadena Cope via FourFourTwo

I don't know if I'm reading this wrong, but he's not leaving or staying. It's all about his agent. What if his agent wants a Barcelona move? Does Bellerín go?

Rumor Roundup (May 28, 2016): PSG still chasing Neymar transfer, Ibrahimovic close to Man United, Ranieri Leicester future, more!

Talking about rumors surrounding football is a fun activity for many fans, maybe only second to actually watching football. In this new daily column, we'll take a look at the latest rumors floating around the rumor mill.

Key reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it's just circulating around the rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt. And please don't yell at us. We're just reporting.

Rumors for the Day:

  • Neymar Jr. is all but guaranteed to sign a new contract with Barcelona this summer, but Paris Saint-Germain have not given up just yet. In fact, according to reports, PSG officials have traveled to Ibiza, where Neymar is spending his vacation, to try and cut a deal.
  • Jose Mourinho's first signing at Manchester United will indeed be Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The superstar striker has been linked with China and Milan, but only the Red Devils have agreed to pay the former PSG man's salary.
  • Claudio Ranieri will be rewarded for his spectacular Premier League winning campaign, as the Italian is set to sign a three-year extension with Leicester City.
  • Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly scouting Ireland international Shane Long, and could be looking to sign the Southampton star this summer.
If you have heard of any rumors that you'd like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are only rumors and not facts, so please take them as such. Have fun!

Sergio Busquets rejects PSG transfer, signs new Barcelona contract

The best defensive midfielder in football will not leave Barcelona.

Despite the never-ending rumors of a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Sergio Busquets has agreed to a contract extension until 2021. The pivote will get a much deserved boost in salaries and his buyout fee will increase to €200 million for any team that wants to buy him out of the Catalan giants.

Busquets' contract negotiation took a few months until a happy ending, and president Josep Maria Bartomeu delayed the talks for a little bit until he was ensured of a new deal with Nike. With that out of the way, he immediately reached a deal with one of the most important players on the team, something that certainly makes Busi a happy man:

"I’m really pleased that we’ve reached an agreement. The club also did its part and I feel highly appreciated here. I feel great at the best club in the world and hope things stay that way. I hope injuries are kind to me and that I can continue to help make this club even greater still.

"All the matches, all the titles, growing from a kid to being made one of the captains … All of that means a lot to me and I hope things carry on as well as they have until now, or even better."

Source: FCBarcelona.com

This is such a huge relief. Barça's entire system is at risk of collapse without Busquets, and the fact he's getting paid and will stay for the next five seasons guarantees we're going to have a great team for years to come.

A Barcelona fan's guide to hate watching the Champions League Final

The UEFA Champions League Final is this Saturday. For most football fans, this is a music to the ears: the most prestigious club competition in the world having its Final in the beautiful Milan of all places, featuring two very good teams. This is a perfect opportunity to grab a beer, join your friends and have fun, regardless of which team you're supporting.

Unless you're a Barcelona fan, of course. After a spectacular season, that had two titles and 39 straight unbeaten games at one point, there is a feeling the Catalan giants should be playing at San Siro -- or Giuseppe Meazza, don't yell at me, Inter fans. After all, this was the undisputed best football team on the planet for a second straight season, and another fantastic year of football should have been rewarded with a place in the European Cup decider.

But that ain't happening, and now we are torn. This should be a fantastic game, but because of the teams involved, and the circumstances that led to those teams being in the Final, there isn't a real reason to be excited about Saturday if you're a Culé. So the question is: what the hell do Barça fans do on Saturday? Should we watch? Should we do something else? Who should we root for? Should we cry?

Don't cry. We've prepared a special guide for Barça fans everywhere with everything you need to know or do on Saturday. These are the simple questions you need to ask yourself:

Do I like watching football?

Well, duh, yes you do. That is the first step. In order to enjoy watching the game, you have to be on some level okay with watching a football match, even though Barcelona is not there. If you're able to do that, you will forget that your team is not there EVEN THOUGH IT FREAKING SHOU... wait, sorry. We all like football. That is the first requirement. Saturday will feature a great football game, one you shouldn't miss if you like the sport for what it is.

Do I like to laugh when teams I hate lose?

If you do, congratulations, you're a sports fan! Every fan of every team of every sport has another team they absolutely hate. It's the nature of sports and that's what makes it so fun. But some people don't hate certain teams to a point where they never want to see them win. Some fans go "ah, I don't care if they win or lose, I only care about my team". If you feel that way, no problem. But if you're a Barça fan, that should be a requirement on Saturday. After all, Atlético Madrid knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League, and are the reason why we're not playing at San Siro/Giuseppe Meazza. And then there's Real Madrid, who needs no introduction. Real Madrid losing is as good or better as Barça winning, and that happening in the European Cup Final would definitely be the highlight of a weekend without Barça.

It's okay if you choose to hate Atlético or Real. There are reasons to hate both of them. But if you don't laugh at one of them in the end, then there's no point of watching the game.

I read all that crap, and I've decided I don't want to watch the game. What should I do?

Well, you are in luck! The modern world is amazing because it gives you great choices for entertainment at any time, so there are great alternatives for you if you decide to skip the game.

Here's a few ideas for you:

  • Friends marathon. Who doesn't love to see one of the funniest shows of all time? I mean, watching Ross and Rachel's on-again-off-again-on-again relationship, Chandler's hilarious sarcasm, Monica's insanely organized life, Joey's charm, and Phoebe's adorable yet weird personality? Perfection! The game could be three hours long if we get extra-time, penalties, and the whole trophy celebrations. You can watch about 10 Friends episodes! To make it easier for you, here's a list of the funniest ever. Use your friend's Netflix account if you don't have one, and go laugh! You will not be disappointed, and you might even forget about crying that Barça isn't playing.
  • FIFA tournament. If you had planned to call your friends to watch the game together, but decided not too, change the plans and include football! Everybody loves to play FIFA, right? So get a group of people and do a video-game tournament! You can play as Barcelona and beat Atlético and Real Madrid while those two teams go at it in real life, and if your friends think you're crazy and decide to go to a bar and watch the game without you, you can always do it alone against the CPU. I guarantee you are not a sad person.
  • Watch Barcelona winning the Champions League in previous years. Come on, we've won five titles! It's much better than not watching Barça on Saturday. You could watch the Ronaldo Koeman free-kick that won the first UCL at Wembley, or the other Wembley Finale win against Manchester United, one of the greatest performances by a football team in the history of mankind.

These are just three of the many, many options you'll have. To mention a few others: taking a three-hour nap, going to the movies (the new X-Men is out!), watching another Netflix thing if you don't like Friends... See, plenty of options!

We hope this guide will help you get through this Saturday. And no matter who wins, we know that Barça is still the best team in the world.

Rumor Roundup (May 27, 2016): Barcelona sign defender, Real Madrid working on Pogba trade, Mesut Ozil Arsenal future, more!

  • Barcelona's first signing of the summer transfer window is a surprising and unexciting one: instead of a big-name move, the Blaugrana have signed young defender Davinson Sanchez from Atlético Nacional in Colombia. Sanchez will train with the first team in preseason but will join Barça B permanently.
  • Paul Pogba is one of the hottest properties on the transfer market, and Real Madrid are prepared to do everything to sign him, including offering star midfielder Toni Kroos and €60 million to Juventus.
  • German star Mesut Özil, one of the best playmakers in the Premier League, has not been mentioned among the biggest transfer targets in the market, and for good reason: the World Cup winner is committed to Arsenal and is ready to sign a contract extension after the Euros.
  • Speaking of Arsenal, the Gunners have already signed Granti Xhaka, and will continue to make moves in the transfer window: the next two targets are Juventus striker Álvaro Morata and Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
If you have heard of any rumors that you'd like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are only rumors and not facts, so please take them as such. Have fun!

Full Barcelona 2016-17 home kit leaked, looks even more beautiful

The new Barcelona kit is just a few days away from being officially launched, but we already know how it looks like. And with every new detail, it gets even more beautiful.

Two weeks ago, we saw this leak from Footy Headlines that showed the new shirt:

It looked great, obviously, with a simple yet modern design. But sometimes the shorts or the socks can screw up the entire kit if they're not designed right. Thankfully, it isn't the case with the new kit. An image from what appears to be a photo shoot with the team's stars shows the entire kit, and DAYUMN.

That is an absolutely spectacular kit, in all senses, from top to bottom. The only thing I'm not a fan is the color of the sleeves in a darker tone, but that is a global Nike thing, so that can't be changed. Other than that, I love everything about it: the simplicity of the design, the shorts and socks totally blue again, all of it.

And more importantly: NO SPONSORS!!! That could be changed until the official launch if the club can cut a deal with Qatar or Ferrari in the next few days, but the new Nike deal might be enough in terms of shirt money next season.

Hey Nike, so you're giving us €100 million every year PLUS this kit? Well, I love you, Nike.

Report: Barcelona ready to make offer for Arsenal full-back as Dani Alves replacement

Barcelona is likely to lose one of its legends this summer, so the replacement has to be a good one.

And according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants have shortlisted Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerín to replace Dani Alves, who is all but set to join Juventus on a free transfer in the upcoming transfer window. Barça are prepared to offer as much as €30 million for the 21-year-old.

Bellerín is certainly one of the best full-backs in the Premier League, and was rightfully named in the PFA Team of the Year this season. Always known for his pace and offensive abilities, the Spaniard took a step further in his development and became a solid defender for his position. He's a long way from being a world-class player, but he has undoubted potential to become one.

Coming to Barça wouldn't be something new for the youngster, who actually came through La Masia, Barça's youth academy. He was sold long before having any chances of being promoted to the first team, but scouts from the Catalan giants continued to watch him grow as a footballer. If the announcement is made regarding Dani Alves' departure, prepare for a strong pursuit of Bellerín.

Are you on board with a potential Bellerín signing, Blaugranes?

FC Barcelona News: 26 May 2016; Four Cups Go on Display in Museum, Thomas Vermaelen Frustrated

The four cups won in the 2015/16 season are now on display at the Museum | FC Barcelona
On Wednesday morning, the team's four trophies achieved in the recently completed 2015/16 season arrived at their brand new abode. After 10 months of play across six competitions, the final two pieces of this season's trophy haul — the La Liga cup and the Copa del Rey trophy — were duly set down alongside the other two trophies Barça won this season: the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Luis Suárez's chart-topping season, by the numbers | FC Barcelona
With league and cup double wrapped up and celebrated, it is now time to look back at a key figure’s contribution to the said trophies. Luis Suárez has played the season of his life, scoring 59 goals in all competitions which helped him earn both the European Golden Shoe and the Spanish league’s top scorer prize otherwise known as the Pichichi.

Neymar Jr thrilled by 'perfect double' | FC Barcelona
Neymar Jr couldn’t feel prouder of yet more success at FC Barcelona. He made that patently clear following the celebrations of the Liga and Copa del Rey double at the Camp Nou on Monday, telling the club media that "I am very happy with my third season at Barça, in which we have won title once again … We may not have repeated the treble but we did a good job and the double was perfect."

Leo Messi: Barcelona has given me everything | FC Barcelona
"I have always had the same way of playing, wanting to go for goal no matter what and if I can continue, I do." Those are the words of Leo Messi and they are a perfect definition of what he has done and continues to do at FC Barcelona. Just one thing on his mind, irrespective of who he is up against, his innate brilliance nearly always allows him to achieve his goal.

Jordi Alba, scorer of few but crucial goals | FC Barcelona
Football often throws up some unexpected storylines, and one of those came about in last Sunday’s Copa del Rey final between FC Barcelona and Sevilla. Rather than one of the front three grabbing that crucial breakthrough in the tensest of finals, it was full-back Jordi Alba who got in behind the opposition defence to tuck away a goal in extra-time to send Barça on their way to the double.

Puyol: Xavi is wrong about Simeone's amazing Atletico Madrid - Goal.com
Carles Puyol once said, "I don't have Romario's technique, Marc Overmars' pace or Patrick Kluivert's strength. But I work harder than the others. I'm like the student who is not as clever, but revises for his exams and does OK in the end." In that context, it is easy to understand why the former Barcelona defender has nothing but admiration for Diego Simeone and Atletico Madrid.

Thomas Vermaelen disappointed with Barcelona game time - Goal.com
Thomas Vermaelen says he was left "disappointed" after being left out in the cold for Barcelona's double-winning run-in. Barca produced a stunning late-season surge to retain La Liga, while a 2-0 extra-time victory over Sevilla last weekend kept the Copa del Rey in their possession.

The goals of the week from players on Barça's youth teams | FC Barcelona
As we like to do in the middle of each week, it's time to present to you our top five goals scored by FC Barcelona youth academy players over the past weekend, as voted on by the Barça TV programme, 'Promeses', which has pored over untold numbers of highlight reels in order to come up with the best of the best.

La Liga News: 26 May 2016; Unai Emery to Stay at Sevilla, Javi Gracia Leaves Malaga for Rubin Kazan

Real Madrid may move for Thibaut Courtois if they fail in bid for David de Gea, says Guillem Balague | Sky Sports
Manchester United goalkeeper De Gea was on the verge of a move to the Bernabeu last summer, before the deal bizarrely broke down on Deadline Day. Courtois' Chelsea failed to qualify for Europe for next season, and Balague believes the Belgian would be a fitting plan B if De Gea stays put once again.

Cristiano Ronaldo urges Real Madrid to extend his contract | Sky Sports
Cristiano Ronaldo has urged Real Madrid to renew his contract and says he wants to see out the remainder of his career in the Spanish capital. Ronaldo's immediate future at Real has been in doubt all season, with speculation growing throughout the year that he was plotting a move to Paris Saint-Germain, but the Portuguese has now made it clear he wants to stay at the club.

Cristiano Ronaldo says he will not join Jose Mourinho at Manchester United | Sky Sports
Sky Sports News HQ understands Mourinho will be unveiled as Louis van Gaal's successor by Friday this week. In an interview with the 'Jugones' programme on Spanish television - to be aired on Friday afternoon and quoted by The Sun - Ronaldo backed Mourinho to reinvigorate United but insisted he will be staying at Real Madrid.

How Atletico Madrid’s team has changed in Diego Simeone’s reign | Sky Sports
When Atletico Madrid appointed Diego Simeone in December 2011, the club had just been eliminated from the Copa del Rey by third-tier Albacete and were tenth in La Liga - 21 points adrift of the leaders. Under the Argentine they went on to win the Europa League that season and followed up by winning the UEFA Super Cup and the Copa del Rey in the 2012/13 season.

Diego Simeone Atletico alchemy keeps Rojiblancos in contention - ESPN FC
Diego Simeone, as ever, assertively set the tone. Once Real Madrid had confirmed they would again be Atletico Madrid's opponents in the Champions League final in Milan, the Argentine was naturally asked what it meant, and how the 4-1 defeat at the same stage in 2014 would affect things.

Unai Emery staying at Sevilla, insists club president | Sky Sports
Everton reportedly have the three-time Europa League-winning Spaniard on their short-list to replace the sacked Roberto Martinez at Goodison Park. However, Castro insists Emery, who was a 6/1 chance with Sky Bet on Wednesday afternoon to be the next Everton boss, will not be leaving the La Liga club.

Javi Gracia leaves Malaga for four-year deal at Rubin Kazan - ESPN FC
Malaga have announced the departure of manager Javi Gracia after two seasons in charge. Gracia, who led Malaga to consecutive ninth-place finishes in the Primera Division, has accepted a four-year contract to manage Russian side Rubin Kazan.

Report: Barcelona starting defender considering departure as Arsenal, Juventus submit offers

Barcelona will be a busy team in the upcoming transfer window, and some big names be coming in while other big names might be heading out.

According to reports in Spain, starting center-back Javier Mascherano is considering a departure from the Catalan club this summer. After years of great service, the Argentinean is thinking about a change of scenery, and more important, of position. Mascherano is a center-back at Barça, but his natural spot is a little bit further up the pitch, as a defensive midfielder. For various reasons, he can't play that position at Barça, and he might be looking for a place where he can be a pivote.

A player of Mascherano's caliber has no shortage of suitors, and if the reports are accurate, two European giants have already submitted offers: Serie A champions Juventus, who have agreed a free transfer for Barça full-back Dani Alves, are looking for a defensive midfielder to replace Claudio Marchisio, who is out injured and will only return in 2017. Reports in Italy claim that Masche and Juve already have a three-year personal deal in place.

Arsene Wenger is rebuilding his midfield at Arsenal, and after landing Swiss star Granit Xhaka, he is looking for a replacement to Mikel Arteta, who retired from football this season. Mascherano has all the qualities Wenger would look for, and since the Arsenal manager is obsessed with Barça players, he would definitely love to have El Jefecito in his squad.

However, as sources have told Barça Blaugranes, the Catalan giants have absolutely zero interest in selling the player. With Marc Bartra and Thomas Vermaelen leaving this summer, the team will have less options in the center of defense, and even if they do sign another center-back, they want to have Mascherano on the team to serve as mentor to the young prospect who's likely to join this summer. He is still starter quality, and is on the short list of best defenders on Earth.

Naturally, Barça don't want to lose him, and will reject any offers. But if Masche makes the decision and hands in a transfer request, then maybe things could change.

Report: Barcelona full-back Dani Alves to join Juventus on free transfer

It looks like the legendary career of Dani Alves at Barcelona is coming to a close.

According to multiple reports in Spain and Italy, the Brazilian full-back has agreed to join Serie A champions Juventus this summer, activating a clause on his contract that allows him to leave on a free transfer. Alves will sign a three-year contract with the Bianconeri.

The 33-year-old has been linked with a departure from the Catalan club ever since coach Luis Enrique took over. Many thought Enrique wouldn't count with Alves' services, but the player stuck around and was a huge part of Barça's seven titles in the last two years.

But throughout that period, Alves received a multitude of offers, including a 3-year, €40 million proposal from a Chinese club, that he rejected since he wanted to stay in Europe and contribute to a world-class team. Juventus is certainly one of those, and Dani is the answer to the Old Lady's need in the position.

It is hard to discredit five different reports, including one from Catalan radio and another from an Italian outlet with sources within Juventus. The announcement is all that's left, but one thing is certain: Dani is leaving Barça.

(I need some explaining on the free transfer clause, though. Who the hell agreed to that? This guy is worth money!)

Lionel Messi lands Sports Illustrated cover

Media coverage of football in Europe is never-ending. It's a constant 24/7 news cycle that every outlet possible wants to latch on to. The same cannot be said for coverage in the United States. In this country, soccer is optimistically the fifth most popular sport and is hardly ever covered by major sports media outlets. Admittedly the coverage has improved over the last five years or so, but it pales in comparison to what the major countries in Europe have.

That's why the news of Lionel Messi gracing the cover of one of the USA's most prominent sports magazines is rather big news. It was announced on Wednesday that the Barcelona superstar will be on the cover of Sports Illustrated's next edition.

Not only will Messi feature on the cover, but he'll have his own article that he's written himself in the magazine.

With the Copa America Centenario taking place in the U.S., big media outlets are taking notice and with Messi being the most marketable player in the tournament, it makes sense for him to be the posterboy.

Wembley might just be the most special stadium for Barça fans outside of Camp Nou. A simple reason for that is the Catalans tasted continental glory there. The club's first ever European Cup was won in 1992 with an unforgettable free-kick by Ronald Koeman against Sampdoria at Wembley. 19 years later, Pep Guardiola's Dream Team created a masterpiece and defeated Manchester United to win Barça's fourth Champions League.

Not only does Barça get to play at Wembley again, this is a great test for the team, since Jürgen Klopp is expected to make great signings and turn Liverpool into a dangerous side that will trouble Luis Enrique's men. Everything about this friendly is perfect.

Atlético Madrid star admits Barcelona transfer offer, reveals why he rejected it

Atlético Madrid midfielder Koke is getting ready to play the Champions League Final against Real Madrid this Saturday. But he could be watching it on TV, had he joined Barcelona.

Koke, one of the most integral parts of Diego Simeone's system, spoke in a radio interview mainly about the Saturday decider, but he was also asked about the unstoppable links with Barça. Koke was regarded as the New Xavi Hernández, and there were talks of a big offer from the Catalan giants when coach Luis Enrique first took charge.

There was no real confirmation of an offer until now, but Koke admitted it and also revealed the reason for rejecting the approach from the Blaugrana and the decision to stay a Colchonero.

"Something happened with Barça. But we had just won a La Liga title (2014), and I'm part of the best moment in a long time for the club, and something this good will not happen again for several years. This is a club with over 100 years of history and I'm part of the best years. How can I leave? How can I miss this?"

Now this is finally confirmed. Barça did make an offer for Koke, and he rejected it. And his reasoning makes me respect the guy a lot. Not once do you read the word "money" in that sentence. He wanted to stay out of loyalty and sporting success.

Well done, Koke.

Report: Barcelona miss out on PSG young prospect, shortlist another Ligue 1 defender

There are things happening with Barcelona's transfer targets in France.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants are set to miss out on Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos, Barça's dream signing this summer. The French club told all clubs who were hoping to land the Brazilian that he is simply not for sale, and will become a starter alongside Thiago Silva in the center of PSG's defense next season.

Marquinhos has been targeted by the Blaugrana for over two years, and he has indicated he wanted to join the Catalans in multiple occasions, but would accept staying with PSG if he were given a key role in the squad. Apparently, he's getting it now, and will remain a Les Parisien player for the next few years, at least. Premier League teams were also in for the 22-year-old Brazil international, but will have to look elsewhere.

Now that the Marquinhos signing is apparently not happening, Robert Fernández and his team are looking for new options, and they have found a good one in France: Lyon center-back Samuel Umtiti, another Premier League target. He has all the qualities a Barça defender needs: talent on the ball, speed, and obviously, defensive skills. He's young as well (21 years old), which is something both Robert and Luis Enrique want in a new defender.

Other targets are Athletic Bilbao's Aymeric Laporte (very close to Manchester City), Valencia's Shkodran Mustafi (a little too expensive) and Las Palmas' Mauricio Lemos (maybe not good enough).
