Aritz Aduriz’s goal in the first half was enough for the Basque Country to defeat Catalonia 1-0 in Saturday’s annual friendly at Camp Nou. Over 50,000 fans made their calls for independence known as the match marked 100 years since the first meeting between the two regions.

Barcelona have joined Inter in asking Lazio about €35m-rated attacking midfielder Antonio Candreva. According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the Blaugrana have set their sights on Candreva to bring some steel to their midfield. Lazio have already rebuffed an approach from Inter over the last few weeks.

Gerard Deulofeu admits the prospect of a return to Barcelona remains firmly in the hands of the European champions. The 21-year-old moved to Goodison Park on a permanent deal in July but Barca retain the right to buy him back for a fee of €9million after the 2015-16 season, or for €12m the following year.
