Barcelona are pushing for one of the French league’s biggest stars, but one of its biggest teams could land him first. We are talking about Jean Michael Seri, the midfielder who impressed playing for Nice last season. Paris Saint-Germain are known to be interested in him as well, which could result in a bidding war.
According to a report in Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have been in touch with Seri’s people and are very interested in striking a deal. It remains to be seen if new coach Ernesto Valverde ratifies the option.
Seri, who might cost less than 20 million euro, is seen as a much cheaper alternative to PSG’s Marco Verratti, who could cost 90 million or more - if he is on sale at all.
But it’s PSG themselves who could spoil the operation for Barça, as L’Equipe reports the Parisians are keen on Seri either as a replacement of or in addition to Verratti. Other teams are lining up for the Ivory Coast international’s services, as well.
PSG are said to be stepping up attempts to pry Seri away from Nice as the interest of other teams such as Barcelona becomes known.
