Report: Isaac Cuenca to Join Deportivo La Coruña

Reports coming out of Spain claim that Barça forward Isaac Cuenca is not staying. And he has somewhere to go

FC Barcelona's 2014/15 squad keeps on shaping up. Everyday, millions of rumours and news pop up about possible new additions. People are coming, but there is also people who are going away.

One of them is Isaac Cuenca, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo. After his debut two years ago under Pep Guardiola, Cuenca showed some promising skills, and some believed that he could be a good contributor for Barça on the upcoming years if given time to produce and develop.

That never happened. After Guardiola's departure, Cuenca had almost zero playing time with both Tito Vilanova and Tata Martino. The competition at the forward position was fierce, but little improvement and a couple of knee injuries didn't make him worthy of being on the lineup in a regular basis. In January of 2013, Cuenca was loaned to Ajax, but he also never saw much time on the pitch playing in the Eredivisie.

Now, there is a possibility that the 23 year-old might get some piece of the spotlight somewhere else. That would be Deportivo La Coruña, according to the report. Deportivo has just been promoted to La Liga, and they're looking to add quality, first division players to their squad. There were some rumours about them signing Bojan Krkic, but those were not true.

But with Cuenca, the deal might actually happen. The player and the club have a personal agreement, and they were waiting for Barça to give their blessing. The Blaugrana quickly said yes, mainly because new manager Luis Enrique has made clear that Cuenca is not in his plans. Isaac has one year left on his deal, but there's a strong chance Barça won't sell him because they're not getting a lot in return.

The deal is expected to be completed by the end of this week. Good luck, Cuenca!
