Report: Atlético Madrid's João Miranda Contacts FC Barcelona Regarding Transfer

According to a report from Sport, he wants it.

João Miranda is a great defender. He is not that expensive. And he wants to move to Barcelona.

At least that's what a report from Diario Sport claims. According to the rumor, Miranda's agents have contacted Barcelona's sporting director, Andoni Zubizarreta, regarding a possible transfer. The conversation allegedly went well, with the player expressing his wish of moving to the Camp Nou next season, and his willingness to help Barça negotiate his exit from Atlético Madrid.

The problem for Barcelona is that Atlético has the same position Valencia had with Jeremy Mathieu, which made the talks difficult at the time. The colchoneros will not, under any circumstance, let any team buy Miranda for less than €30 million, his current buyout fee. Nothing Barça or any other team (like Manchester United, that has reportedly expressed interested, just because they're United) tries will change Atlético's minds. According to the report, Zubi doesn't want to be in that position anymore.

If Miranda really wants a move, he could force it. That would help Barcelona's efforts. It's all speculation, but he has been linked with a transfer to the Blaugrana, and his addition would be a great one.

Diego Simeone wouldn't want it, since he already lost left-back Filipe Luís to Chelsea. Miranda's loss will certainly be terrible for his plans. If the rumors are accurate, he better wish Barça doesn't want to pay the full clause.
