Apparently, Barça thought the price for the Tottenham Hotspur forward was too high
While Barcelona were negotiating for the return of Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain, another 27-year-old Brazilian attacker was offered to the Catalans, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Apparently, Tottenham Hotspur offered Lucas Moura to the Catalans in exchange for more than 50 million euros, but Barça rejected the proposal. The reported reason was that the price was simply too high.
Barcelona may have been in the market for another forward considering they did not get Neymar. There was a rumor that Barça wanted Juventus’s Federico Bernardeschi in exchange for Ivan Rakitić. However, none of these deals were to be.
The story now is that Barcelona are interested in going after Neymar once again in 2020, hoping to buy out his contract through a legal route planned by the team’s lawyers and the player’s agents.
Regardless, Barça bought Antoine Griezmann from Atlético Madrid in the last transfer window and have a couple of exciting forward prospects integrating into the first team this season in Carles Pérez (who has two assists already) and Ansu Fati (who scored his first professional goal in Barcelona’s 2-2 draw with Osasuna.)
