The club’s poor start is being felt by the players
Barcelona’s defeat to Granada has already brought reports of unrest in the dressing room and talk of players losing faith in Ernesto Valverde.
ESPN reported on Sunday that “a number of Barcelona players have begun to lose confidence” in their coach after sinking to their second defeat of the season on Saturday.
The report reckons that Valverde has enjoyed the players’ support up until now and cite a source “close to the dressing room” as saying there are worries about the team “playing without intensity” and lacking creativity.
However, ESPN also claim to have a source close to president Josep Maria Bartomeu and reckon it would take an extended run of poor results for Valverde to be sacked.
Barcelona are at home to Villarreal next and will be expected to bounce back but from their disaster at Granada. A trip to Getafe follows before the visit of Inter Milan in the Champions League.
