Luis Suarez Thinks He's Ready for the Copa del Rey and Champions League Finals

Barcelona's #9 is recovering from a muscular problem in a bid to be 100% fit against Athletic Club and Juventus.

Luis Suarez has missed the last two-and-a-half games for FC Barcelona due to a thigh problem, but he thinks he's ready to play for the end of the season.

The striker has not received medical clearance to play but signs point that el Pistolero will not miss either the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao nor the Champions League final against Juventus.

As reported earlier, the Uruguayan trained with the group today and is driven to play the cup final, but his status is still considered doubtful, especially with the Champions League final looming. His recovery has been slower than anticipated.

The player himself feels as if he's ready, and actually, thinks he was ready two weeks ago against Atletico Madrid in the Liga title clinching match. A report from radio station RAC1 said the player was going to be 100% for the game against Athletic. He was said to feel excellent.

However, the medical staff and coach Luis Enrique have been much more conservative.

That Suarez is training with the group is a good sign, as he had been doing individual work for the past two weeks. Even on Monday, Suarez trained apart from the group, as did Jeremy Mathieu. Yesterday, despite having a day off, Suarez was back in individual training in a bid to reach full fitness.

If the Cup final was the only thing on the horizon, Suarez would almost definitely take part. But with an eye towards the European final, the medical staff has let Suarez recover at a slower but steadier pace.
