Lionel Messi has a desperate desire for some sort of international win with Argentina. After heartbreak the last few years, this World Cup remains incredibly important for Messi and how he views himself and how the public views him.
Everyone sees his desire, but perhaps few more than Messi’s mother. Celia Cuccittini came out and discussed how much the competition means to her son and how the losses have effected him and the family.
“His aim is to bring the Cup home, to win the World Cup,” Cuccittini said in an appearance on El Trece television show ‘Diario de Mariana.’
”It’s one of his biggest desires. We see him suffer and cry at times.
”He is the first who wants to bring the Cup with him. He more than anyone would give everything for this to be his World Cup.
“We suffer from all the criticism that Leo receives. When people say that he doesn’t feel it or that he plays for the national team out of obligation, that hurts as a mother and as a family.
“Luckily, people love him a lot and they transmit that to him and he values this a lot. As a mother, I do, too.”

It’s incredibly candid from Messi’s mother. These sort of interviews and honesty are what is great from a player’s family members. Not when family members call out clubs for contract negotiations or transfer requests. This sort of candid honesty is cool to see.
