Report: Fernando Llorente tops the list of potential Barcelona striker targets

Barcelona's new sporting comission, led by Ariedo Braida, is working hard to improve the squad.

According to reports from Diario Sport, Braida and coach Luis Enrique have discussed the possibility of adding a striker with a different set of skills. Barça plays a style that doesn't favor the presence of a "Classic Nine" - a guy who occupies the center-forward position and is the main option on the attack, especially with crosses and set pieces. Luis Suárez would be the closest player to fit that mold, but we've seen a more mobile and versatile Suárez at Barça.

In light of the La Liga losses against Real Sociedad and Málaga, in which the Blaugrana suffered greatly to break those teams's barriers, adding a more static striker that is an aerial threat could become a nice alternative for those types of games. Braida and Lucho aren't looking for a world-class ultra-expensive striker. They don't want to change the system; they just want to add some wrinkles to it.

Fernando Llorente, the competent goalscorer from Juventus, is at the top of the list. Llorente is a well known player in La Liga during his Athletic Bilbao years, and his 49 goals from 2009 to 2012 in the Spanish League show that he could be a valuable piece if used correctly. His market value is set at around €12 million, which is not bad for a good role player in the Blaugrana system.

If Barça is indeed interesting in Llorente's signing, having Braida is helpful. He has good relationships with many Serie A clubs, but his best connection is Giuseppe Morata, the Juve's sporting director. That business friendship could help with Barça's biggest Juve target, Paul Pogba. Maybe he can get one more guy.

The Blaugrana are ready to sign another big striker if Llorente doesn't work, though. Premier League's Edin Dzeko and Graziano Pellè have also been discussed internally, even though there isn't a formal offer for either player, sources say. Dzeko would want expensive wages and wouldn't be happy with a diminished role compared to the one he has at Manchester City, but he's still on the table just in case.

What do you think, Blaugranes? Like the idea of a Classic Nine for games against tough defenses, or is Barça's current front-line capable of doing the job?
