One of the biggest transfer targets for this summer is FC Porto right-back Danilo, a talented Brazilian who's caught the attention of the richest teams in Europe, specifically Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
We've been reporting for a while that the Blaugrana had the best chance to land the 23-year-old, since the negotiations between the Catalans and the Portugal powerhouse were close to becoming a deal, even though Barça is banned from making transfers official until 2016. But, according to many reports, Barça has lost the race.
Porto has decided to reach a deal with Real Madrid, reports from Portugal claim. Marca is also reporting the news. You always have to take Marca stuff with a grain of salt, but they're not the only one saying the deal is done, so it's safe to believe that this is true.
The reports suggest that Madrid convinced Porto to sell Danilo for only €20 million, which is half the initial price tag. As we reported earlier, Barça had also talked Porto into agreeing a deal for the same amount, and that happened because Porto is desperate to cash in now, since the player has made clear he doesn't want to sign an extension next year.
If the reports are accurate, Barça's biggest defensive target is no longer available. Now, Plan B is Mattia De Sciglio, the promising full-back from AC Milan.
