Some curious headlines on Friday

Friday’s front pages in Spain bring all sorts of fun with the focus still on Lionel Messi but with Marca coming up with a real zinger.

Their front page features Antoine Griezmann and Joao Felix and a report that claims Barca asked Atletico for a swap but were turned down.

Apparently, the idea was president Josep Maria Bartomeu’s but Atletico were having absolutely none of it an “immediately” turned it down.

Having said that, Atletico are said to be “open to looking into a possible return” for Griezmann, although Bartomeu has since put him on his list of untouchables.

Over at Sport the focus is back on Messi and Barcelona. ‘Bartomeu offers his head’ is the headline with a report that the president will quit if it will keep the captain at the club.

Messi has not yet spoken out about his decision to leave but is still expected to say something in the coming days about the current situation that has plunged the club into a fresh crisis.

There’s all sorts going on at Mundo Deportivo’s front page on Friday. ‘All for Messi’ is the focus with another report on how Bartomeu is willing to resign as president.

Yet MD are also talking again about Barcelona’s interest in Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum and news that Ronald Koeman has promised Antoine Griezmann a leading role next season.

And finally, AS have Messi heading towards the exit door on their front page with the headline ‘Messi goes to war.’

They are reporting that Messi will ignore Bartomeu’s offer to resign and still wants to leave on a free this summer. AS also talk about an offer from Manchester City that will include Gabriel Jesus and Eric Garcia, while PSG are also interested in Messi’s situation.
