Following a disappointing draw away to Alavés at the weekend, Barcelona are right back in action in this unforgiving post-pandemic schedule with their third Champions League group stage match, against Dynamo Kiev at the Greatest Stadium on Earth.
As of the writing of this article, the game is expected to be played despite a coronavirus outbreak in the Dynamo Kiev squad that will sideline a total of ELEVEN players for this one. Final tests were performed in the Ukrainian team on Tuesday night to determine whether or not the match can be played, and as of now we are good to go.
If the game does happen, this is a chance for Barça to once again try and start a winning streak. Consistency is the biggest problem with Ronald Koeman’s team, which has shown flashes of fantastic football followed by moments of ineptitude, sometimes in the same game. Playing well for 90 minutes game after game is the goal for this team, and scoring goals is a huge problem right now.
Unfortunately Kiev’s weakened squad won’t be able to provide Barça with a solid enough test, but the Blaugrana can still offer some hope of playing with more consistency and taking their chances in front of goal.
Let’s dance.
POSSIBLE LINEUPS
Barcelona (4-2-3-1): Ter Stegen; Dest, Piqué, Lenglet, Firpo; Pjanic, De Jong; Trincão, Pedri, Fati; Messi
Dynamo (4-2-3-1): Neshcheret; Kędziora, Zabarnyi, Popov, Syrota; Shepeliev, Andriyevskiy; Tsygankov, Buyalskiy, De Pena; Supryaha
PREDICTION
Dynamo’s weakened team shouldn’t be able to put up much of a fight for too long, and hopefully Koeman can rest Messi in the second half: 4-1 Barça.
