The defender is reportedly going to miss a significant period of time
Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué suffered what looked like a serious knee injury on Saturday’s loss to Atlético Madrid, and the initial reports seem to back up what the replays showed after a collision with Atleti forward Ángel Correa.
According to Diario Sport, the first examinations done on the pitch and in the dressing room suggests a serious structural issue that could require surgery, which would sideline Piqué for a minimum of four and a maximum of six months, similar to Ansu Fati who suffered a meniscus tear two weeks ago and is out at least until the end of March.
Piqué left the pitch helped by the team doctors, nearly in tears and unable to put almost any weight in his right leg which immediately gave fans some huge reasons for concern. And if the reports are correct, Piqué will be out for a while and Barça will have to be aggressive in the January market to sign a capable replacement.
