Barcelona looking for a striker to win the Champions League - report

Munir’s exit has forced the issue and Morata is a rumored name

Ernesto Valverde thought he would have Antoine Griezmann. They even reserved the #7 shirt for the Atlético Madrid striker, leaving it vacant for the last half of last season. But he never came. And now, Munir has left Barcelona as well, signing with Sevilla for a small fee. The team was forced to field Ousmane Dembélé in the center-forward position in the Copa del Rey match against Levante.

Luis Suárez will need rest if Barça are serious about going all the way in the UEFA Champions League. And the club is reacting by doing their best to find a backup striker, according to Mundo Deportivo.

One rumored name - Álvaro Morata. The Chelsea striker is out of sorts in London, and desperate for a change of scenery. Off the bench, he’s been a key component of Juventus and Real Madrid sides that have reached and won the Champions League final. Could the Spanish international regain his form at his old team’s rival club?

TV3 reports that Barcelona are keen on signing a “9,” and one that won’t cost much money. The model for that type of signing is Jeison Murillo, who came on loan from Valencia after a falling out with the manager. Finding such a player, who has quality and yet won’t cost much, will be very hard. Is Morata the answer?
