The midfielder is set for a new challenge
Monchu is expected to complete a move away from Barcelona shortly and is being tipped to join local rivals Girona.
The midfielder was left out of Barcelona B’s squad on Sunday for their first pre-season friendly ahead of the new campaign against Tona.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Monchu is on the brink of sealing a switch to local rivals Girona and will move on a season-long loan.
There has been plenty of interest in the midfielder. Sport have reported Celta, Real Betis and Huesca have all expressed an interest.
Their report also claims Monchu didn’t really want to go but knew there was little chance of game time in the first team this season. However, it also states Barca don’t want to lose him permanently and won’t include a purchase option in any loan deal.
