Peru vs Brazil: How to Watch

The hosts look to play better football and clinch first place in São Paulo

The 2019 Copa America is officially in decision time. Over the next three days six matches will decide the eight teams qualified and the four quarterfinal matchups, and perhaps the urgency and important of these games will increase the quality of what has been a pretty bad tournament so far.

One of the teams hoping for better quality is Brazil, who face Peru in São Paulo with first place in Group A up for grabs. Both teams come into this one on four points from the opening two matches, and the winner clinches the top spot while Brazil can still finish first with a draw if Venezuela don’t win by more than two goals in the other game.

But a pragmatic approach from Brazil will not work. The expectation is for them to play much better than the first two games, and Barcelona stars Arthur and Philippe Coutinho are key members of an attack that needs to be more creative and clinical in the final thid. The Seleção were pre-tournament favorites but have yet to show it on the pitch, and a good win against a good nation will serve as an important reminder that they’re still really good.
