Bad news for Geri and Jordi
Bad injury news for Barcelona.
The club announced on Thursday that defenders Gerard Piqué and Jordi Alba will miss significant time because of the injuries suffered during Wednesday's UEFA Champions League match against Manchester City at Camp Nou. Piqué will be out for three weeks with a sprained ankle, while Alba is out for two weeks with a hamstring injury.
Alba left the pitch after just nine minutes in tears, knowing he had once again injured the same area he did during Spain's match with Italy three weeks ago. Piqué's problem was caused by a tough challenge from David Silva, who slid in and caught the Blaugrana center-back's ankle. Piqué tried to continue for another ten minutes, but was clearly hurt and had to be replaced by Jérémy Mathieu.
Both Piqué and Alba are as of now ruled out of the Champions League return leg against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium in two weeks, and they are also unlikely to be called up to play for Spain during the international break, meaning we won't see them until the middle of November.
