It would have been a Barça record!
Paulo Dybala is arguably the best young player in football. The Argentine forward joined Juventus last season and quickly became a superstar, scoring and assisting goal after goal and leading the Bianconeri to a fifth consecutive Serie A title.
Being a short, left-footed Argentinean who scores and creates a lot of goals, Dybala was quickly compared to Lionel Messi, and maybe the New Messi is actually a real thing — for the first time ever. The 22-year-old continues to develop and become a truly fantastic footballer, and if Juventus are able to hold on to his talents, they might have the best player in the world in a few years.
Dybala was constantly linked with a move to Barcelona, and there were reports about a massive €90 million offer from the Blaugrana that was rejected by Juventus in the summer transfer window. There was never any kind of confirmation about that offer or the rejection, but Dybala revealed that the rejection did happen, although he didn't confirm that the club who made the offer was actually Barça:
“Juventus rejected an offer for me and I have to thank Juventus because that mean they believe in me. It is difficult to reject these kinds of offers. I am happy to stay, I am playing in one of the best clubs in the world and if I’d ever decide to leave, it’d be for the club’s good.”

So after Dybala confirmed the rejection, we went and looked to find out the truth about this whole thing. And here's what we know, per sources with knowledge of the situation: Barça did sound out Juventus about the possibility of an offer, and the Italians said they wouldn't sell Dybala having just negotiated Paul Pogba with Manchester United.
Also according to the sources, Juventus said they would only agree to sell if Barça offered to activate Dybala's release clause. How much is that? You guessed it: 90 millon euros. After a few days Barça replied back saying they didn't accept Juve's counter offer, and the negotations were over at that point.
So did Juventus reject Barça's €90 million offer? TECHNICALLY, no, because Barça never made an offer. But they were interested in signing Dybala in the summer and at some point, sporting director Robert Fernández actually considered activating Dybala's release clause. He decided not to in the end and ended up signing Paco Alcácer from Valencia as the club's fourth forward instead.
