Report: Barcelona agree transfer deal with La Liga team for Alen Halilovic

Alen Halilovic wants to be a Barcelona player, but he might have to wait just a little more before joining the Catalan giants.

According to a report from Catalan radio, Barça have agreed a transfer deal with Valencia for the Croatian midfielder, who would join the club this summer on a five-year contract. Valencia would pay around €7 million to sign the 19-year-old, and Barça would hold a buy-back clause on the contract in all five years, which would increase every year until it reaches €12 million in the final season.

Valencia and Sevilla were the biggest suitors for Halilovic, and representatives from both teams contacted Barça months ago trying to outbid each other and reach a deal with the Blaugrana. Arsenal and Everton have also made approaches to bring the player to the Premier League, but Halilovic has already established his wish to stay in La Liga and make it easier for coach Luis Enrique to watch his development.

Halilovic said recently he wanted to come back to Camp Nou next season after his loan spell at Sporting Gijón, but the coaching staff at Barça wants to see Alen playing at a bigger Spanish club first to see how he handles the pressure of a contender in La Liga.

Barça's plan for Halilovic was only a loan next season, but since the club is trying to have a big transfer budget for the upcoming transfer window, they agreed to sell to make more money and make the necessary investments in the squad this summer. The buy-back clause will be activated in the near future, and the Catalans want Halilovic to join permanently in no more than two years.

What do you think, Blaugranes? Is Valencia a good choice for Halilovic?
