Barcelona striker Luis Suárez will attempt to play Copa América 2016 despite injury

Luis Suárez is surely a warrior, and he'll try to play through injury for his national team this summer.

The Uruguayan's spectacular season ended in somewhat of a sad note on Sunday, when the Barcelona striker left the Copa del Rey Final early in the second half with what appeared to be a hamstring injury. The club confirmed the issue on Monday:

Tests on Monday morning have confirmed that FC Barcelona striker Luis Suárez has suffered an injury to the semimembranosus muscle in his right leg. Following the recommendations of the Club's medical services team, the 2015/16 Golden Shoe winner will begin his rehabilitation in Barcelona.

Hamstring injuries usually take three to four weeks to recover, meaning Suárez would miss the Copa América Centenario, which starts in 10 days in the United States. The thing is, Luisito will join Uruguay and try to get better in time.

On 1 June, Suárez will join the Uruguay national team in the United States, where he'll continue with the second phase of his recovery.

There is no chance that El Pistolero will be 100% fit for the Copa América, but he wants to be in the tournament so badly he's prepared to play through injury. What a warrior.

By the way, even if Suárez does play injured this summer, it will not affect his participation for Barça next season. The Copa América ends in the beginning of July, and Luisito will have several week's rest to arrive at the Blaugrana preseason in perfect shape.
