Their place in the next round secure, FC Barcelona can now turn their attentions to top spot in Group F, as they look to topple Paris Saint-Germain in the final two match days of this year's UEFA Champions League group stage. A match day 6 showdown with the Parisians will almost certainly determine the winner of the group, but of course that could all change pending results tonight. Without a win, it's almost unthinkable that Barça can contest for top spot, so just as much as that clash with PSG at the Camp Nou, this is a must-win fixture for the Blaugrana.
Fortunately, they "only" have to travel to Nicosia to take on APOEL; it's far from the toughest fixture in the group stage, yet it isn't an automatic three points either. Even if the Cypriot champions are in relatively poor for and are struggling for goals, Giorgis Donis' side remain capable of frustrating their opposition and could theoretically pull off a shock result.
Then again, you remember that to pull off such a result they will likely have to keep Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and possibly Neymar off the scoresheet and well, hence the "theoretically".
If all goes according to plan, or even if it doesn't, Barça simply have too much individual talent at their disposal to not eventually overwhelm APOEL. Top spot is in sight, history can be made once again; all we need is a performance to match.
