FC Barcelona News: 3 November 2014; Transfer Ban Decision Coming This Year, Tough Week Awaits Barcelona

Barcelona 'to learn transfer fate before Dec. 31' - ESPN FC

Barcelona are due to find out before Dec. 31 if the ban preventing them from making any new signings during the next two transfer windows will be reviewed, according to Ara. In April, FIFA banned Barca from bringing in new signings after the club were found guilty of breaching regulations in place to avoid the exploitation and trafficking of young players.

Twenty named for Amsterdam | FC Barcelona

The Barça squad has been announced for the trip to Amsterdam for the Champions League game with Ajax on Wednesday (8.45 PM CET). It reads as follows: Ter Stegen, C. Bravo, Masip, Montoya, Piqué, Rakitic, Sergio, Xavi, Pedro, Suárez, Messi, Neymar Jr, Rafinha, Mascherano, Bartra, Douglas, Jordi Alba, Adriano, Dani Alves and Munir.

Luis Suárez returns to Amsterdam Arena | FC Barcelona

After playing his first matches donning the Barça colours, Luis Suárez is likely to make his Champions League debut on Wednesday in Amsterdam, when they take on Ajax in the Amsterdam Arena. The setting is undoubtedly a special one for him and is where he'll be looking to help his new team to pick up a much-needed victory after winning two and losing one in the three first leg encounters in Group F.

First blank for 56 games at Camp Nou | FC Barcelona

The last time Barça failed to score at the Camp Nou was on October 22, 2011, in a 0-0 draw with Sevilla. The absence of any goals also brings an end to Neymar’s scoring run, which had reached six games. Against Celta he hit the woodwork twice.

Mathieu out for 2-3 weeks with calf injury | FC Barcelona

Jérémy Mathieu will miss the next few FC Barcelona games after picking up a soleus injury in his right calf, which will see him side-lined for two or three weeks. After starting last night against Celta, the defender is definitely out of the trips to Ajax and Almeria this week, and this probably means he will not be taking any part in the internationals for France the week after.

Two away trips for first team | FC Barcelona

Barça have four training sessions and two fixtures this week. There will be a training session every day including on match days (Wednesday and Saturday) for those not named in the respective squads. They’ll be travelling to Amsterdam on Tuesday for the Champions League group stage match against Ajax the following evening.

Abelardo: "Luis Enrique is capable of leading this Barça team" | FC Barcelona

Sporting Gijón manager Abelardo Fernández was at the Miniestadi on Saturday, and while speaking to the press, expressed his admiration for his former Barça team-mate Luis Enrique. "He is fully capable of leading this Barça team" he said of his fellow Asturian. "You can see what he has done with his teams and Barça have improved in many ways on last season".

Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo breaks Isidro Langara's 79-year La Liga record - ESPN FC

Cristiano Ronaldo's opener for Real Madrid in the 4-0 defeat of Granada on Saturday saw him break Isidro Langara's 79-year-old record for the most goals scored in the first 10 La Liga games of the season. Langara set the record in 1935-36 when playing for Real Oviedo after scoring 16 goals in his opening 10 matches of the campaign.

Valencia beat Villarreal 3-1 to cut the gap at the top | Sky Sports Football

Villarreal dominated for large periods at El Madrigal but an early own goal from Manuel Trigueros put Valencia in front before a second-half brace from Germany centre-back Shkodran Mustafi took the game away from the Yellow Submarine. Trigueros managed to pull one back late on to give the hosts a glimmer of hope but, despite charging forward in the final moments, they could not get any closer.

Aritz Aduriz goal enough for Athletic Bilbao to beat Sevilla | Sky Sports Football

The win sees Athletic move further away from the relegation zone and they appear to be on the way up after a torrid start to the season, while Sevilla suffered only their second defeat of the season and missed an opportunity to go top of the Primera Division after Barcelona's defeat at Celta on Saturday.

Real Sociedad sack manager Jagoba Arrasate | Sky Sports

Real Sociedad have sacked Jagoba Arrasate following a disappointing start to the campaign that has left the club in the Primera Division drop zone. The Basque club have won just one of their opening 10 league fixtures while they were eliminated from the Europa League before the group stages following a humiliating defeat to Russian side Krasnodar in August.

Nine-man Elche claim first win in seven with 2-1 success over Espanyol | Sky Sports Football

Jonathas scored either side of half-time although the strugglers made life difficult for themselves as Garry Rodrigues and Domingo Cisma were dismissed to give Espanyol hope. Although Christian Stuani was able to set up a frantic finale, Fran Escriba's men were able to hang on for just their second win of the season which moves them out of the bottom three.
