Everton meet with Barça to complete Digne transfer

It seems like the Frenchman is indeed moving to England

There seems to be increasing optimism among Everton fans that they will sign a new left-back this summer, and that player will most likely come from Barcelona.

According to multiple reports in Spain and England, Everton officials have traveled to Catalonia to meet with Barça officials in hopes of completing a deal for Lucas Digne as soon as possible. Digne had been linked with many teams around Europe, but the Toffees have always been the team with genuine interest and a real offer.

Barça are asking for around €20 million to accept the sale, and Everton are trying to lower the fee as much as possible without putting the deal in jeopardy. Typical negotiation stuff. All reports seem to indicate the deal will be completed at the end of the week, with official announcements from both clubs to come within the next few days.

As for a replacement for Digne, it looks like Ernesto Valverde is more than happy to promote a youngster from Barça B to serve as backup to Jordi Alba. The logical answer is Marc Cucurella, and even though Valverde is a big fan of 18-year-old Miranda, Cucurella is a much more experienced player and would be moving up to the first team if/when Digne is sold.
