La Liga chief Javier Tebas admits he "isn’t happy" with Brexit and insists Spanish football will not necessarily benefit from the Premier League "going wrong". The United Kingdom’s vote to withdraw from the European Union on Thursday is threatening to change the landscape of English football forever, with Spaniards at risk of seeing their opportunities of playing in the Premier League greatly diminished, but Tebas was disappointed with the potential loss of competition.
But frustration was admittedly the overriding emotion less than a year ago for 29-year-old Navas. "It’s not good when something like that happens but I’m not someone who is always looking back and I don’t bear any grudges," Navas told Spanish newspaper Marca. "The night of August 31 was a bitter pill I had to swallow but it’s already forgotten and everything is lovely."
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has heaped praise on West Ham's Dimitri Payet following the player's impressive start to Euro 2016. The Hammers fear losing Payet to one of Europe's elite and Real are among a number of clubs interested in his services. Zidane's comments, then, will be viewed as something of a charm offensive in east London after the former France international voiced his belief that Payet would 'improve any side in Europe'.
Manchester United have been told they can have unsettled Real Madrid star James Rodriguez this summer. Colombia star Rodriguez, who joined Real for £56million after the 2014 World Cup, but could be available to United for around £50m. Reports in Spain claim Rodriguez has put his house up for sale, with his Madrid future uncertain after he failed to secure a regular starting place last season.
Real Madrid could have a very real problem following Great Britain's exit from the European Union. Thursday's historic vote would make Welsh superstar Gareth Bale a 'non-EU player' and is set to put the club over their limit of players from outside the EU. La Liga's foreign player policy only allows each club to have three players registered from outside the EU and the Spanish giants already have their quota full.
