Chile beat Argentina on penalties, repeat as Copa América champions

Chile have won the Copa América for a second straight year, repeating as champions beating Argentina on penalties once again to successfully defend their South American crown. Claudio Bravo represents Barcelona and gets to lift the trophy again as Chile captain.

But most Barça fans aren't happy after Sunday night in New Jersey. Argentina's loss means a third straight second-place finish for Lionel Messi at a major tournament with the national team -- along with the 2014 World Cup loss to Germany, and last year's loss to Chile. After pretty much carrying the Albiceleste on his back all the way to the final game, Messi couldn't finish the job.

He did have a few good moments here and there, but overall, Leo did not have his usual performance. He was turning the ball over at a scary rate, taking poor free-kicks and looking lost sometimes. And when it came time to take the first penalty in the shootout, which would have put Argentina in front after Arturo Vidal missed his shot, Messi shot the ball to the skies of East Rutherford.

It is easy to pick on Leo for Argentina's troubles. His haters will certainly be quick to that. It is also easy to forget how incredible Messi has been in the international level. For some weird reason, he and his teammates cannot seem to get the job done. It will come sometime, though. It has to. Messi cannot be so unbelievably unlucky with Argentina all the time.

Congrats to Bravo, though. Representing Barça with another title. Our summer is a little happier. Thanks, Claudio.
