Euro 2016: 13 June 2016; Live Open Thread

A new day of international football is upon us, and it should be a great one. The Euro 2016 group stage reaches Day Four, and is shaping up to be one to remember.

First up, two-time defending champions Spain make their European Championships debut against a very tough Czech Republic side. Vicente Del Bosque will likely manage his last tournament as La Roja's boss, and will certainly work hard to make this team play well again. The horrible showing at the World Cup two years ago left a bad impression, and Spain needs to rebound.

There is a slow, yet important rebuilding process going around, where young, promising players get chances to shine. Yet, the core of the team that won two Euros and a World Cup since 2008 remains the same: Barcelona players like Gerard Piqué, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Andrés Iniesta carry the side and are still a huge part of Spain's chances in France. It won't be easy to score goals against Petr Cech and Co., but the Spaniards have to win in order to remain in contention for first place in Group D.

Up next, a match that revolves around one single star: Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Ireland and Sweden face off in what doesn't promise to be a great football game, but it's still worth our attention because of one of the best, most polarizing stars in the sport. Ibrahimovic is a clear contender for top scorer in the Euros, and could use a game against a questionable Irish defense to make his case.

And then, the big one: Belgium and Italy will clash to close Day 4 in style. The young, exciting, promising, talented core of the Red Devils needs to make a point with a great performance in a big tournament, and what better way to leave your mark than against one of the most historic national teams in football? Italy are not the powerhouse of old, but Gianluigi Buffon and the amazing Juventus back three are still there, and Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne need to be at the their best to lead the Belgians to a victory. Plus, it's a chance to see Thomas Vermaelen represent the Blaugrana.
