Barcelona squad named for UEFA Champions League Debut

DOUGLAS!!!

It's time to hear "THE CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMPIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNS!!!" all over the Camp Nou again, as Barcelona makes its UEFA Champions League debut at home, this Wednesday, against APOEL Nicosia. And coach Luis Enrique has already selected the squad that is going to be available to enter the pitch.

It's a surprising selection by the boss. Lucho chose to leave Jordí Alba, Javier Mascherano, Pedro Rodríguez, Sergio Busquets and Martín Montoya out of the squad. All of them received some rest. With the absence of Montoya, Enrique called up Douglas Pereira, the controversial signing from São Paulo FC. Since Dani Alves isn't fully recovered from his knee discomfort, it's quite possible that we see the debut of Douglas. How about that?

Another absentees: Luis Suárez (suspended), Thomas Vermaelen (injured), Jordi Masip (injured).

These are the eighteen men chosen by Lucho:

Claudio Bravo, Marc-André Ter Stegen, Dani Alves, Douglas, Gerard Piqué, Marc Bartra, Jérémy Mathieu, Adriano, Sergi Samper, Ivan Rakitic, Xavi, Andrés Iniesta, Sergi Roberto, Rafinha Alcântara, Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., Munir El-Haddadi, Sandro.

Expected Starting Lineup (4-3-3):

Stegen; Alves, Piqué, Bartra, Adriano; Samper, Rakitic, Xavi; Munir, Messi, Neymar.

Barça takes on APOEL at 20:45 CET. You can follow all the action right here, at BB. Visca el Barça!
