Barça continued their preparations with the second friendly of the preseason at Nice on Saturday night. They travelled there straight from Birmingham, and there were plenty of signs that things are coming together in the wonderful Allianz Riviera. They were always in control, and despite going down to a first half penalty, they drew level in the second, also from the spot, and could easily have gone on to win the game, had there been a little more luck on their side.

It may still be the pre-season, but Luis Enrique's players showed some nice touches of quality during the game to give the Barça fans a taste of what to expect this season. Pedro and Sandro both hit the woodwork and surging runs from Adama and Bartra, as well as a clever free kick routine between Pedro and Alba were amongst the highlights.

Luis Enrique has sat on the Barça bench for the second time as first team manager, a 1-1 draw in France, although he insists that "the result is what matters least. These games are for seeing where each player is and telling each of them what things they’ll need to improve".

Gerard Deulofeu came on for the second half in Nice, where FC Barcelona drew 1-1 in the second game of the preseason. "It was a difficult match" he said afterwards. "We drew, but we had chances to win." He was impressed by OGC Nice but also pointed out that "they have been training for longer than us".

In the build-up to the game between Olympique Nice and FC Barcelona, Jérémy Mathieu and Marc-André Ter Stegen gave a press conference at the match venue, the Allianz Riviera. The local media was particularly interested in hearing what their compatriot had to say. "It’s always very special to come to France" said Mathieu. "And it’s even nicer to come with a team like Barça. I’m happy to be in France with Barça".
