FC Barcelona News: 30 August 2014; Andres Iniesta Left Out of 18-Man Match Squad, Twelve Called Up by National Teams

Neymar has been declared fully fit and has been included in the team of 18 that will travel to Villarreal on Sunday. But Andrés Iniesta is left out due to trouble with his left knee. The Medical Services are currently working to determine the extent of the injury.


Douglas Pereira signs FC Barcelona contract | FC Barcelona

Douglas Pereira signed for the Club just after quarter past six on Friday evening. After a busy day which included his medical at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, the Brazilian came to the Club offices this evening to pen to paper on the five year deal worth 4 million Euros, with a further 1.5 million depending on the number of games he plays.

On Friday August 29, he arrived in Barcelona first thing in the morning for an intense day that involved a photo shoot with the club crest, his medical test, the signing of his contract and his presentation both to the Camp Nou and to the media at a press conference. Alex Song is not training with Barcelona this morning, with reports that he is all-set to leave the club. The Cameroon international has been allowed to skip the session by the Blaugrana hierarchy as talks continue about his departure. Cristiano Ronaldo has been left out of the Portugal squad for the first Euro 2016 qualifier with Coach Paulo Bento questioning his fitness. Ronaldo has featured for Madrid at the start of the season and scored in the League opener against Cordoba. But Bento has said there are reasons to doubt how ready the captain is for the campaign and didn’t include him in the group to play Albania next week.

The visitors had made a promising start to the game and caused problems for Valencia early on but the game changed completely when Malaga midfielder Sergi Darder was sent off. Paco Alcacer opened the scoring moments later to ensure Valencia took full advantage and then Dani Parejo extended the gap just before half-time.

Former Swansea striker Alvaro Vazquez hit the only goal of the game to sink Almeria and give Getafe their first win of the new season. Vazquez was unable to score a single goal during his loan spell in the Premier League but decided the game in just his second appearance since returning to Getafe, bundling the ball home from a couple of yards out.


Espanyol confirm David Lopez to Napoli | Football Espana

Espanyol have confirmed that midfielder David Lopez will complete a transfer to Napoli later today. Reports have been rife that the 24-year-old was a target for Rafa Benitez’s side after an impressive four years in Barcelona. And today the Periquitos have revealed that the youngster will move to Italy, in a deal thought to be worth around €5m.
