An emotional Ruschel described it as a dream come true
Barcelona defeated Chapecoense 5-0 in an emotional Joan Gamper Trophy match. The Gamper is a friendly match, meant to showcase the team before the season proper starts.
Tragedy struck “Chape” last year after an airplane accident resulted in the death of most of the squad and coaching staff, as well as some journalists traveling with the team.
Ruschel was one of only three survivors of the accident, and he captained Chapecoense at the Gamper. After the match, he fulfilled what he called a dream by exchanging shirts with none other than Lionel Messi.
What a moment.

We hope Barcelona was able to bring some support to the team, fans, and families. #ForçaChape!
