Barcelona have new €125 million Coutinho bid rejected by Liverpool - reports

The club’s pursuit of the Brazilian is not going well

Barcelona have had a new and improved bid of €125 million for Philippe Coutinho immediately rejected, according to multiple reports in the UK.

According to Paul Joyce at the Times, and many other reliable sources, the Reds turned down the huge new offer straight away as they continue to insist he will not be sold.

It’s a huge offer from Barcelona who have been encouraged in their pursuit of the Brazilian, after he submitted a transfer request, and appears keen to move to Camp Nou.

However, Liverpool are standing firm and with time starting to run out in the transfer window, Barcelona must ponder their next move carefully.

Do they raise their offer even further? Is Coutinho really worth €150m? Or is it time to admit defeat and move onto other targets?

The injury to Luis Suarez comes at a particularly bad time, with the Uruguayan potentially set to miss the opening four games of the season, thus further reducing the options in attack.

There’s also the question of Ousmane Dembele, with Barca still chasing the Borussia Dortmund star but, despite all the words from the club, appearing to make little progress.

Josep Maria Bartomeu promised big names would arrive back in July, it’s about he time he made good on his promise.
