Paco Alcacer tries to explain Barca’s second half showing

Paco Alcacer tried to explain Barcelona’s second half showing after they beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0 at the Camp Nou on Sunday.

The striker started the game, in Luis Suarez’s absence, and opened the scoring after just eight minutes.

Barca were playing some superb stuff and added a second through Lionel Messi. They also hit the woodwork three times in a first half they completely bossed.

The second half was a different story indeed and Alcacer said it was because the team relaxed.

“In the second half we relaxed. I try to help the team as I have always said,” he said.

”You have to help with hard work and, if you can, with goals.

”We knew that Athletic would defend well but we managed to score twice early on.

“I think the mentality of the team when we go onto the pitch is one of winning, not looking at the league table.

”That’s why we will carry on like this.”

There’s now an international break so Barcelona won’t play again until March 31st when they are back in La Liga action with a trip to Sevilla.
