Barça will be looking to win six a row in La Liga. Oh, and Messi is playing. So you should watch it.
Barcelona look very good right now. With five wins to start the league season and a dominant performance in the Champions League against Juventus, the Blaugrana are in a much better state than anyone expected less than a month ago.
It’s been an encouraging start to the season, but the games will get tougher and the team will be tested against the best. The first tough test comes today with a trip to Girona. It seems on paper like an easy game against a newly promoted team with only 5 points in the table, but it’s far from a comfortable night for Barça.
Girona have put together a very good squad for their first ever season in the top flight thanks to a partnership with Manchester City, who’ve loaned out five really good young players to the Catalan club. They’ve had a very tough start to the season in terms of the schedule, with games against Atlético Madrid, Sevilla and Atlético Bilbao, and although they’ve picked up only point from those matches, all three were very difficult.
Girona have a strong defense and have proven to be deadly on counter attacks and set pieces, and they’ll certainly give Barça a very good fight for 90 minutes. The Blaugrana cannot take this game for granted and need to be at their best, and if they’re able to get a sixth straight victory to start the league season, they’ll be in a great position in the early stages of the title race.
So this will be a very difficult and important away game for Barça, and Lionel Messi is playing again. Do I really need to say you should watch?
