When does the summer 2017 transfer window close in Spain and across Europe?

A handy guide with deadline day looming

Transfer talk is reaching fever pitch across Europe right now as the transfer window prepares to slam shut with many clubs, including Barcelona, still anxiously hoping to conclude deals.

As such here’s a handy reminder of when the transfer window closes across Europe, with the window open a little later in Spain, and not due to close until late on Friday night local time.

Deadline Day

  • England and Scotland - August 31st 11pm BST
  • France - August 31st midnight CEST
  • Germany - August 31st 6pm CEST
  • Italy - August 31st midnight CEST
  • Spain - September 1st midnight CEST

Why the difference in dates you ask? Well Fifa state there must be two transfer windows each season and allow individual associations to chose when they start and finish.

The Spanish federation announced earlier this summer that their transfer window would close a day later than in previous years, and also a day after those in England, France, Germany and Italy.

A full list of all the transfer windows all over the world, can be found here with Fifa’s transfer window calendar.

Barcelona have brought in Nelson Semedo, Paulinho and Ousmane Dembele this summer but there could still be one or even two more arrivals before the deadline.
