The Blaugrana are looking at other options apparently
Time is rapidly running out in the transfer window and with Barcelona seemingly making little progress in their hunt for Philippe Coutinho, potential alternatives are now being touted
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are considering late moves for Antoine Griezmann, Paulo Dybala or Thomas Lemar if they do not land the Brazilian.
Whether Barcelona have any chance of landing Coutinho is still difficult to assess. The player is now fit for Brazil, having not played for Liverpool this season due to injury and having handed in a transfer request. Make of that what you will.
Over in Spain, the Catalan press continue to report negotiations with Liverpool, however in the UK, the view is the opposite, the Reds will not talk to Barcelona, and will refuse to sell.
MD report that with talks currently at a standstill, Barcelona have decided to look elsewhere, yet it is getting late in the day and none of the players mentioned look particularly easy to tempt away.
Antoine Griezmann has already rejected a move to Manchester United, out of loyalty to Atletico Madrid, with the club currently operating under a transfer ban that prevents them registering new players until January.
Dybala has been frequently linked with Barca but said recently he would be happy to stay at Juventus forever if they wanted him.
Which leaves Lemar, who has been linked with Arsenal for most of the summer, until Arsene Wenger admitted recently the deal was “dead” with Monaco reluctant to sell.
Recent speculation has suggested Liverpool have bid for the Frenchman, potentially as a replacement for Coutinho, and now Barcelona are interested too.
Ernesto Valverde has made no secret of the fact he wants more signings, Robert Fernandez has said he is hoping to bring in one or two, yet we still seem no closer to knowing who, if anyone, may come in.
