Barcelona continues to roll and strings along another terrific performance.
It really is a shame to lose Sergio Busquets just when he seemed to be getting his game back together. The Barcelona midfield this year has struggled to play well together consistently. It seemed to be the story of the season of players starting out poorly, and not gelling with those that were, indeed, having terrific games. When Iniesta began stringing together incredible performance after incredible performance, he was missing another outstanding player with whom to associate and dominate the midfield.
Now, when it seems Busi was finally regaining some of his incredible potential, he was butchered by a terrible tackle. Luckily, it was not as bad as it looked, as it looked pretty bad, and he won’t be out for a considerable stretch of time. Now the question becomes whether he will pick up the level of play with which he left before the injury. It is also necessary to ask ourselves who will replace one of the hardest players to sub on the squad, and whether said player, or players, will demonstrate some of the tremendous quality expected of them.
If we were to look at this as an opportunity, if for no other reason than to find the silver lining in what is a terrible occurrence, then we may postulate the attractive option of moving Rakitić to a holding midfield position, allowing Sergi Roberto to move up to the midfield, and starting Aleix Vidal as our right back. Vidal is not the brightest defender, and while removing Rakitić from that right side terrifies me, as he helped cover that lane offsetting some of Sergi’s defensive deficiencies, it would be interesting to see some of his offensive capabilities. If anything, Busi’s injury might force Lucho’s hand at giving the right back more playing time, and continuing his rediscovery. As it now seems Vidal is not going anywhere anytime soon, playing him shouldn’t be a preposterous idea.

1st Goleador: Luis Suárez
Is this the start of another breathtaking stretch of exquisite football from our top three? You all have noticed it, and I’ve mentioned it more than once, how our MSN seems to be finding their footing once again. Instead of one of them playing immaculate football while the other two struggle, now all three of them are dominating as they should be. It is now Luisito’s turn to be the MVP as he quite clearly performed well above the opposition, while also ranking higher than most of his teammates. He had a goal and an assist, and was the embodiment of the phrase “hard work.”
2nd Goleador: Lionel Messi
It must be very pleasant to play with somebody as skilled as Messi. His ability to play the ball in any fashion to his teammates is astounding. Well, sure, sometimes he misses by a few yards and the run of play breaks down, but when you really think about it, how often does that occur? It is always the precise, beautiful pass to the best possible receiver at exactly the best possible moment.
3rd Goleador: Neymar
This one was the harder choice. There were a couple of other players in this game that had great games. Honorable mentions go to ter Stegen and Umtiti. Neymar was a step above the other two, however, and thus claims the third spot.
