But it’s probably BS.
Here’s a juicy one: Shakira wants her man, Gerard Piqué, to leave Barcelona and Spain and relocate to London.
That’s according to Spanish magazine Don Balón, which I’m going to say doesn’t have the best reputation when it comes to rumors like this.
The idea is that Shakira is sick of the controversy the defender generates being at the heart of the Real Madrid-Barcelona rivalry.
And London would be a calmer place, apparently, plus Cesc Fàbregas, Piqué’s friend, already lives there. One can assume the only two London clubs that could afford him are Arsenal and Chelsea. And probably only Chelsea. (Sorry, Tottenham Hotspur.)
Before you panic, remember this: Piqué-to-Chelsea rumors are nothing new
And why London anyway? Why would a Colombian singer of Lebanese and Spanish descent want to live in rainy, English-speaking London (no offense) so bad that she wants to uproot her children’s father from his home town?
Let’s not forget that there’s every reason to think Piqué really does fancy becoming Barcelona president one day, and he really does stand a good chance of doing so. Being perceived as abandoning the team because of his girlfriend will not go down well with the socis towards that eventual goal.
So is this true? Well, we don’t know for sure obviously, but take this stuff with a big heaping serving of salt.
