Luis Enrique: "This win makes us stronger"

The boss is very happy with the result.

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is very happy with another La Liga win for his team, as the Blaugrana beat Rayo Vallecano at Vallecas to retain their spot as leaders of the Spanish league. At the post-match press conference, Lucho talked about his feelings about the game, commented on Claudio Bravo's shutout record, and more.

Here's a few highlights of his answers:

"Since the opponent was going to show a lot of intensity and close the space between the lines, the basic thing for the players was matching their intensity. We did that, and then we were able to compete, even though we were playing in a hostile environment, a stadium with a very loud crowd. Once we did that, we started to take control of the game and the goals came.

The connection between Neymar and Messi is something we wanted to see and we're satisfied that they're able to find each other much more than before. But we can't depend only in their connections, we need to have the ability to change the pace and create opportunities in many different ways. It is clear, however, that we're happy to see Neymar and Messi playing closer and having connections.

Bravo's record is very important for him and to us, but I look beyond the record and I see what the whole defensive work is like. And it looks very good, and we want to keep improving on that.

Those statistics don't matter now, they matter at the end of the season. If we're able to maintain our position without conceding goals in April or May, that's what I'm concerned. But of course Bravo and the defenders deserve a lot of praise for their work.
