Following a painful defeat in El Clásico and a week of training and rest, Barcelona return to action in La Liga this Saturday when they welcome Real Sociedad to the Greatest Stadium on Earth. And this promises to be really tough.
Barça haven’t won their last two games while La Real come into this one on fire: six straight wins in all competitions, three of them in the league and three in the Copa del Rey, including a classic victory at the Bernabéu and two semi-final victories over Mirandés to set up what promises to be an unbelievable, all-Basque Copa Final against Athletic Bilbao.
Martin Odegaard cannot stop scoring and assisting, Mikel Oyarzabal is one of the best wingers in Spain and Alexander Isak is finally living up to the hype as one of the most promising strikers in the world. Sociedad are as good without the ball as they are with it, but not everything is perfect: they are yet to win an away game in La Liga in 2020, and have just one victory in almost four months on the road.
If the incosistent, road version of Sociedad shows up against the most dominant home team in Spain, then Barça are big favorites. If the real La Real come to Camp Nou, then we’re in for a very tough 90 minutes. This should be good.
POSSIBLE LINEUPS
Barcelona (4-3-3): Ter Stegen; Semedo, Piqué, Lenglet, Alba; Vidal, Busquets, De Jong; Messi, Griezmann, Fati
Sociedad (4-1-4-1): Remiro; Zaldúa, Elustondo, Le Normand, Muñoz; Zubeldía; Portu, Odegaard, Merino, Oyarzabal; Isak
PREDICTION
La Real are not as great on the road, and I’m counting on Barça to give a strong response after last week: 3-1 to the home team.
