The club are expecting to take a big financial hit

Barcelona players are reportedly willing to take pay cuts to help the club out during the current coronavirus crisis.

Sport report that president Josep Maria Bartomeu has spoken to the club’s four captain, Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Sergi Roberto, about reducing salaries.

The players are said to understand the situation and have come to an agreement, although it has not been finalised just yet.

AS have a similar report but note it’s difficult to come to a final agreement until there is more information on when football may resume.

Marca also report the players are in talks to cut their salaries as Barcelona are not going to be able to cover their €1 billion budget now.

La Liga has been suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak and it’s not yet known when it may resume.

President Javier Tebas has suggested the league could return in mid-May, but there is no guarantee with Spain on a lockdown that could reportedly be extended for another 15 days.

The Champions League has also been put on hold, although UEFA are said to be hoping to play the final at the end of June.

Barcelona are reportedly expecting to lose €60 million in revenue due to the pandemic.
