The latest from the Barcelona boss
Quique Setien faced the press on Friday to talk all things Barcelona ahead of their La Liga fixture against Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou.
The Barca boss was asked about Ansu Fati, Eder Sarabia, Lionel Messi and Saturday’s opponents.
Here are the best bits:
Setien on Ansu Fati
He is a footballer who had more prominence and we contemplate that he will always be there. Now there are other players who can contribute many things but Ansu is a footballer we have, who works hard and is an extraordinary kid.
Setien on Arthur
He has discomfort and he has been treated. We will see how he evolves with treatment.
Setien on Messi
I don’t care that he didn’t score recently. If he scored it would be better, but it has never bothered me. It could happen to Leo or anyone. He is having chances and that is the important thing, that chances are generated. He has been scoring goals for 14 years, if he now has a period in which he scores less it is not important.
Setien on Sarabia
I don’t think there’s much more to say about this. The only thing that Eder has done wrong is the way he expressed himself.
People make a lot of interpretations based on his shouting, but it’s normal to shout on a football pitch to warn players or to show your frustration. Apologies have been given for the words that have been used and they shouldn’t be used at a club like this. But the rest is accepted.
Setien on the Barca dressing room
We are delighted with the dressing room we have found here. There are no problems. I thought it would be more difficult than it is. The players accept everything with an extraordinary attitude.
Setien on Real Sociedad
We always await the best team. They are having a very good campaign and are a team that does things very well. We expect a committed and difficult game. They are a team that makes things difficult for their rivals.
