A check on the latest gossip...

Barcelona in talks with Villarreal for Pau Torres

Today’s rumors start with Sport where the word is that Barcelona have been talking to Villarreal about centre-back Pau Torres.

The Catalan giants are thinking about bringing the 23-year-old in as a possible replacement for Samuel Umtiti who the club want to sell in the summer.

Torres has a release clause of €50 million, but Barcelona reckon they won’t have to pay that and can get the youngster for less.

David Alaba must take a pay cut to join Barcelona

Sticking with Sport and they reckon that David Alaba has ended contract negotiations with Bayern Munich and could move to Barcelona in the summer instead.

The problem is that his wages are a tad on the high side, and Barcelona won’t think about a deal unless he decides to take a pay cut.

Alaba currently earns a rather tidy €8 million per season and would really quite like a pay increase, something that the Spanish champions simply can’t afford.

Four Premier League clubs interested in Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho’s struggles at Barcelona do not appear to have put off Premier League clubs who remain keen on the Brazilian.

The Mirror report that Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea have all asked about his availability at the end of the season.

Bayern Munich have no intention of buying him and neither do the interested English clubs, as they are all thinking about taking him on another loan.

Monchi key to Rakitic future

Ivan Rakitic is expected to leave Barcelona in the summer and a move back to Sevilla could depend on director of football Monchi.

AS reckon Rakitic would be happy to head back to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium as he holds the club close to his heart.

Yet it might be a difficult move to pull off. Barcelona will not want to sell him cheaply, while the 32-year-old midfielder commands a high salary which may prove problematic.

Barcelona talk to Sassuolo about Boga

And finally we head back to Sport and a report on how Barcelona have spoken to Sassuolo about a possible move for Jeremie Boga.

The club’s financial situation means they are looking at cheaper options and have been quite taken by Boga’s performances in Serie A.

The former Chelsea man has eight goals and two assists in the Italian top flight and has impressed with his dribbling ability.

Barca have a “collaboration agreement” with the Italian club which may help seal a deal as Chelsea, Lyon, Napoli, Inter and Lille are also interested.
