The Liverpool man’s transfer saga has taken turn after turn this summer. Most recently, Liverpool rejected Coutinho’s transfer request. However, after leaving him out of their opening Premier League game against Watford, with a back injury cited as the reason for his absence, the likelihood of a Coutinho exit has continued to grow.
After their 3-3 draw against Watford, a somewhat downbeat Jurgen Klopp made it clear that the decision of Coutinho’s transfer isn’t up to him and that he would “have to accept decisions from owners”.
Today’s news certainly isn’t a notice of his move out of Liverpool, and the club may well claim he is still struggling with injury.
However, it will be taken by many as another sign there is some sort of dysfunction between Coutinho and the Reds.
Meanwhile, the waiting game continues as the Liverpool board continues to ponder Coutinho’s future at the club, amid huge interest from Barca.
