At least not at first...
La Liga will not accept Paris Saint-Germain’s 222 million payment for Neymar’s release clause, if/when they try to pay it, according to Diario SPORT.
La Liga had already warned that whether or not PSG paid the release clause, they would bring them to task for possible breach of Financial Fair Play rules.
"Their commercial rights do not exceed those of Real Madrid or Barcelona. No one believes that," said La Liga chief Javier Tebas. FFP is supposed to keep clubs from spending well beyond their means. Some have accused it of being a paper tiger so far, though.
SPORT says that La Liga will demand proof that everything is on the up and up, both in terms of FFP and in terms of Neymar's contract. The move will therefore be blocked at least provisionally... if it does indeed happen.
